Ben (he/him) co-founder/director/administrator has decades of experience teaching children from ages 2 - 18 and was a certified elementary, middle school, and high school science teacher for 15 years where he created educational gardens and a deep ecology curriculum in several public schools and also as a science teacher at the Firelight Academy for Homeschoolers. Ben enjoyed several years as a preschool teacher at Unity Preschool and nothing gives home greater joy than the delight of children learning and playing in the garden. He has traveled the world as a teacher and trained wilderness guide with the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS). Ben has served as a director of Children's Garden since 2011.

Ben has a gift of creating inspiring curriculum of what he's learned about the natural world with children and helping them experience a deeper connection to that world. Ben is certified in Permaculture Design and he is committed to living a regenerative lifestyle. He is a prolific organic gardener and loves to feed his friends and family with lots of home grown veggies.

Ben and Morna have devoted their lives to children's education. Their combined experiences, passions, and unique specialties create an optimal learning environment for children of all ages. They originally started the Children's Garden Learning Community in 2011 with the dream of creating a holistic and inspiring learning experience for their son Liam and the children in the local community. Now over 15 years later the program continues to thrive in serving young children and their families.
