Our homeschool programs for 6 - 8 year olds are hands-on, project-based, and taught from an interdisciplinary perspective building literary, arithmetic, critical thinking, and artistic skills. Projects are designed for mixed age learning with differentiated instruction. Cooperative games and creative free play in the garden balance the day and develop healthy social-emotional well being.

Math & Science
Tuesdays 9am to 1pm
Our approach is to use the natural world as an innately fascinating context within which to learn mathematical and scientific concepts. Children build a foundation of typical math and science skills through fun group projects and experiments using all of their senses, natural materials, and lots of physical movement.

                    Language & Literacy
               Thursdays 9am to 1pm
Our projects build language and literacy skills through storytelling, puppet shows, fairy tales, mythology, song writing, book making, creative arts, and theatrical improvisation with combining elements from Waldorf (story-based, main lesson type books made by children), multicultural education, and nature-based learning methods.

Wild Fridays
Fridays 9am to 1pm
Wild Fridays is a weekly nature education course with regular field trips to local forests. Inspired by the work of Jon Young and the 8 Shields Institute we explore the way that nature connection occurs. We develop opportunities for children and mentors to spend time in nature, fully immersed, through core routines and sensory awareness to develop naturalist skills and cultivate knowledge of place, as well as foster mindfulness and peaceful interpersonal relationships through hands on activities, storytelling, and songs.

“The best education does not happen at a desk, but rather engaged in everyday living – hands-on, exploring, in active relationship with life.”
